If you’re like me, you’re in need of a drink after work by the time Thursday rolls around. It must be a bad sign then that I’ve had one everyday this week already… 😉 Here are some of the best bars in Brussels to have a glass of wine and meet up with friends.
One of my favorite places to go for a drink and to unwind is Oeno TK. This is a good wine bar (and shop) located just behind the Trinity Church at the end of Rue Baille (near Chatelain). They’ve got a decent selection of both old and new world wines, and the barman will happily advise on a good choice to suit your tastes. Their yummy snacks are substantial enough for a light dinner if you end up staying here for the evening, which is easy to do.
29-31 Rue Africaine, 1060 Saint-Gilles

Open Monday to Tuesday, 11am-8pm, Wednesday to Saturday, 11am-10:30pm
Busy Café Belga is another good spot for a drink with friends. Often crowded, they have the required uncomfortable hard wood chairs of any good Belgian bar. The staff can be unfriendly, but for some reason this place has remained extremely popular among Belgians and expats since it opened. Skip the wine and have a beer instead. You can start and end your night here – they are open until 3am on Friday and Saturday. This is also a good spot for a light breakfast or coffee on the weekends.
18 Place Eugène Flagey, 1050 Ixelles

Open Monday to Sunday, 8am-2am (3am on Friday and Saturday)
The quieter Piola Libri is a nice little Italian café/bar/bookshop in the Schuman area. They often hold events during the week, including live music, readings and small exhibitions. They’ve got free wifi so it’s also a good place to just hang out.
66 Rue Franklin, 1000 Brussels

Open Monday to Friday, 12-8pm, Saturday 12-6pm
Where’s your favorite place for after work drinks? Please share! At this pace I’m going to need a few new addresses. 🙂
