As previously confessed on this blog, I’m the not the biggest fan of cooking. That’s not to say I can’t whip something up when needed, but it’s by far my least favorite household activity. However, I love a good kitchenware shop or cooking supply store. There’s something so wonderful about imagining a perfect domestic scene with all the right utensils, dishes and linens. Daydreaming doesn’t always equal reality back at home, but a girl can still enjoy a good bit of window shopping. Here are my favorite places in Brussels for all things cooking and dining.
My Table is a relatively new shop near Chatelain that has the cutest collection of dishware, baking supplies, kooky gifts, delicious sweets and much more. Owned by the same people as the Rose gift shop across the street, this little treasure trove is a great place for gifts for friends (or yourself!). It sells all sorts of unique items, like Pantone mugs, Eiffel Tower cookie cutters, dish racks that look like astroturf and other fun kitchen items. They change the display and inventory with the seasons so it’s definitely a spot to visit often.

Dutch chain Dille & Kamille is a lovely store just off Avenue Louise on a quiet pedestrian street. Before even entering, you’re greeted by wonderful garden supplies and plants set up on the street. Once inside, you’ll find a huge selection of kitchen tools, dishes, linens, teas, spices and bath items. Everything is arranged by theme, like baking, picnics and pasta making, which makes it easy to put together a selection for a gift. Be careful though as it’s hard to leave this place without buying a little trinket. Who doesn’t need a cherry pitter or an egg separator in their supplies?

Opened by Aline earlier this year, Pimpinelle is a minimalist-style shop with a hand-selected range of cooking utensils, gourmet products, recipe books and dishware. The store also houses a sampling salon where you can enjoy mini dishes à la carte or sign up for a cooking workshop. See here for upcoming events. Currently closed for summer holidays (open again on 18 August).

Last but very much not least is Mmmmh! located near Place Stephanie. One of the largest cooking supply stores in Brussels, this two-story gourmet heaven has over 8,000 products and gadgets on offer. This is a great place to go if you’re looking for a specialty tool or ingredient. In addition to top-of-the-line utensils, pots and appliances, they sell a wide range of oils, spices, condiments and wine. They also hold regular cooking classes and offer gift certificates, which make terrific presents for foodie friends.
